Mending Magic: camping edition

I did a thing that I didn’t really think was possible! I replaced the elastic headband for my son’s headlamp! It was quite stretched out after years of use (and some abuse), and while I didn’t get quite the same type of elastic band, I found patterned elastic, which is both nice looking and softer than the waistband elastic that gets covered by fabric.

We have actually replaced the flashlight part of this headlamp, and now the elastic, so the only original pieces are the two gray plastic pieces that are part of the headband. Some hikers were throwing away a Black Diamond headlamp years ago, and my husband saw it and took it home to see if he could clean up the battery contacts or otherwise get it working again. He did, and we replaced the low-powered headlamp that our son was using with this stronger light. And now with a new band, this headlamp is ready to head back to summer camp!
